Launched September 9, 2009, therepubliq is one of Austin’s longest running, locally run websites by and for the LGBTQ community, featuring coverage on local news and events of interest to LGBTQ Austin as well as one of the largest LGBTQ-focused community calendars in Central Texas. therepubliq‘s primary outlet is its website, therepubliq.com. Receiving up to 50K pages hits per peak months, therepubliq is one of the most turned to resources for the LGBTQ+ community in Austin, Texas and the surrounding areas. We cover news and events of interest to the LGBTQ+ community.
Our primary form of advertising is banner ads on the website, with ad space broken up by department groups. Advertisers have the option of running ads exclusively, where only their ads run in that ad space in that department for the term of their advertising campaign — exclusive ad rates — or than can have their ads run in rotation with other ads in that space in that department group during the term of their advertising campaign — shared ad rates.

Exclusive ad rates include up to five tweets per week through therepubliq’s Twitter account. Shared ad rates include up to two tweets per week through therepubliq’s Twitter account. Additional social media posts can be added to advertising campaigns for an additional fee.
therepubliq has a large growing social media footprint with a heavy presence on Facebook with over 7,700 followers along with over 1,900 followers on Twitter. We use these networks to reach out to our audience, sharing content from our website and from our content partners.
Currently, among our 7,700+ Facebook followers, 44 percent identify as female and 54 percent identify as male, with the 25-34 age group making up 38 percent of our audience followed by the 35-44 age group making up 27 percent. Among our 1,900+ Twitter followers, 38 percent identify as female and 62 percent identify as male. We are currently working on growing our Instagram following, using it as an additional outlet to distribute our photos from the field.
therepubliq features a weekly email newsletter, therepubliq weekly, with top picks of what’s going on in Austin each week delivered to subscribers’ mailboxes every Wednesday. Each issue also features a sneak peek at upcoming featured events as well as online deals and discounts for subscribers.
Advertisers can sponsor an issue of therepubliq weekly, partially for $150/week or fully for $250/week, with banner ads and links. Package discounts available for short-term campaigns (3-6 weeks) and long-term campaigns (6+ weeks). Packages can be stand-alone or as an add-on package to full advertising campaign.
therepubliq hosts events throughout the year which gives us the opportunity to partner with local groups and businesses looking to promote their brands directly to our audience. Our monthly GayTripper series features group outings that vary in size from several dozen on our distillery tours in the surrounding Hill Country, to the intimate dozen or so for our Hill Country wine tours to our popular Big Gay River Float with hundreds of participants from around the state. We also host therepubliqfest in mid-March, which coincides with SXSW, featuring our Big Gay Kickoff Party, held annually in partnership with the Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and our annual 4-day LGBTQ+ music showcase. This year, we will kick off our Big Gay BBQ on the closing Sunday of the festival to shut it all down … Texas-style.
Advertising and promotions with therepubliq is pre-paid with all accounts either renewing on a month-to-month basis or terminating at the end of a scheduled term period. That means there is never a contract. You pay for what you need, when you need it. This gives you the flexibility to scale your advertising up and down, as needed, to accommodate your budget and your business’ needs.
Renewal invoices for automatically recurring accounts are emailed out on the 15th day of each month and due by the last day of the month. Invoices unpaid by the due date are automatically expired and any scheduled campaigned is terminated. Renewal invoices are billed at the same level as the previous invoice. If you need to adjust your campaign, people notify your account manager prior to the due date to ensure there is no disruption in your campaign.
Short-term advertisers, with a scheduled term of two months or less, will be billed the full amount due at time of placement. No renewal invoices will be set out for short-term advertisers.
You can make a payment online, using the link included in your invoice, through PayPal or by credit card. Credit card payments made through PayPal will appear as PAYPAL*PLANETCHASE on your statement, while credit card payments made using our traditional payment system will appear as WEP*PLANETCHASE on your statement.
You can also make a payment by check, payable to PLANETCHASE and mailed to PlanetChase, ATTN: Chase Martin, 1800 Lavaca St. #804, Austin TX 78701. If mailing a check payment, please allow sufficient delivery time so that your payment is received prior to your due date to ensure there is no disruption in your campaign.
