Austin Black Pride Returns with Relay Revel Weekend

Published

on

After a 10 year hiatus, the Black LGBT Pride Celebration has been reborn as Austin Black Pride and returns this weekend during Texas Relays, an annual track and field competition hosted by the University of Texas at Austin, and the Urban Music Fest at Auditorium Shores, with four days of events being billed as Relay Revel Weekend.

The mission of the new organization, which has received support from the previous board of directors, is to empower lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQIA) people of color. Austin Black Pride aims to create multicultural opportunities that educate, inspire, improve and celebrate the experiences of LGBTQ individuals through social services programs, advocacy, supportive partnerships and relationship building.
