Pease Park Conservancy welcomes you to Pease Park and thanks you for volunteering to help us improve the park. We will be meeting at 1100 Kingsbury.

Ragweed is a native plant that may be perceived as undesirable on stream banks.  It has some benefits such as reducing the effects of direct sunlight on the soil and it likely reduces soil compaction while increasing soil moisture and organic matter.  However, when ragweed growth is very dense it may slow down the establishment of other desirable species.   In these cases, ragweed stems can be bent or cut and left in place as leaf litter.  These techniques give other native plants a better chance of growth while maintaining the benefits that ragweed provides to the soil.
Gloves, tools, shirts, and snacks will be provided.

There has been an increase in snake sightings in the park, none of which have been venomous. This said, closed-toed shoes are now required, boots are preferred. Without proper footwear, you will be turned away for safety concerns.

Please bring your own water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes (boots are preferred) and if you have not been fully vaccinated, please wear a mask.
