Prior to the screening, the Austin Gay Men’s Chorus will perform.

In the wake of the 2016 election and a series of attacks against LGBTQ+ liberties in the American south, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus decides that their best weapon against hatred is music. “Gay Chorus Deep South” documents their tour of American Deep South churches and concert halls and plays like a beautiful song of love and tolerance for trying times. Along the way, the members of the chorus tackles complex LGBTQ+ issues, including gender expectations, disparity within the community for POC individuals, and the challenges faced by transgender people. And, in the process, the choir even learns to reconsider some of their preconceived notions about life in the South. Featuring touching music and beautiful cinematography, “Gay Chorus Deep South” is the perfect booster shot of hope, optimism, and understanding.
