Sometimes a song emerges in an artist’s career and changes everything, redefining his identity while opening the doors to a global audience. In Georgel‘s case, this song is called “Adrenalina” and sets the tone, for a new beginning for such a talented Mexican singer-songwriter.
“Adrenalina is that extra push I need to reinvent myself in every song and every aspect of my existence”, explains Georgel with his trademark eloquence. “Soul and R&B feed my soul’s inner passions. It’s an invitation to break out from traditional patterns and to break stereotypes.”
“Adrenalina” combines a seductive beat with that soft and subtle melancholy that defines the new R&B movement in Spanish. While the production is minimalist – with crystalline elements on keyboards – it also underlines the passion and longing that Georgel’s voice can naturally express. Adding zest to the sweet energy of the chorus, Colombian rapper Nanpa Básico‘s guest appearance is the cherry on top of the cake.
“Working with Nanpa brought me closer to a great human being whose career is rising at a meteoric speed, but without losing his humility,” adds the singer. “Not only did he connect with the song immediately, but he was able to take it to another level with his poetic and intellectual style.”
”Adrenalina” is accompanied by an imaginative video, placing Georgel and Nanpa Básico in a futuristic context with elements of steampunk.
“The song was being recorded exactly one week before the pandemic closed down the streets of the world,” says Georgel. “Considering the new restrictions, it was quite a challenge to carry out such an ambitious project with recordings in Mexico, Colombia and the United States. The video follows an adventure inside an android technological suit that allows me to be safe in a desolate city along with a couple of rebels who join my quest.”
Georgel’s sonic journey continues, evolves and grows stronger. “Adrenalina” is the first preview of an EP the singer-songwriter will release in early 2021.
