Dallas Hosts Volleyball Tournament in Austin

Volleyball players from all across Texas and California will descend on Austin this weekend for the first North American Gay Volleyball Association's (NAGVA) Austin Summerfest, hosted by the Dallas Independent Volleyball Association (DIVA).
There are 21 teams registered to participate in the tournament. Dallas, the host organization, has 13 teams competing. Houston, the next largest contingent, has five teams scheduled to compete. Austin, the host city, has two teams competing. California is represented with a team from West Hollywood.
The tournament will kick off Friday, July 27, 2012, with a Registration Party from 7-11 PM at Oilcan Harry's at 211 W 4th St. The event is free and open to the public (18+ welcome).
Games will be played at the Austin Sports Center in South Austin at 425 Woodward Street, across from St Edward's University, on Saturday, July 28 starting at 8:30 AM. First day Pool Play should run through 4 PM for the BB Division and 4:45 PM for the B Division. After the games on Saturday, July 28, DIVA will host a Pre-Seeding Mixer poolside at the Wyndham Garden Hotel from 5:30-7:30 PM, followed by a Seeding Party at The Iron Bear at 121 W 8th St from 8-10 PM. The seeding party is free and open to the public (21+ only).
The tournament will continue on Sunday, July 29, with Bracket Play at the Austin Sports Center starting again at 8:30 AM. After the games, the tournament concludes with the Awards Ceremony at Oilcan Harry's from 7-9 PM.

Additionally, Chase runs PlanetChase, LLC, a consulting firm providing a variety of business development services including web development, marketing, branding, technology to small businesses, startups, and entrepreneurs; as well as meeting planning services for the financial services industry.
On his spare time, Chase has volunteered with local organizations including AIDS Services of Austin, the Octopus Club, the Austin Gay Basketball League and Volleyball Austin. In 2007, he was appointed by then-Austin Mayor Will Wynn to serve on the Austin Area Comprehensive HIV Planning Council where he served as the chairperson of the Community Access & Nominations committee.
