The Austin Gay Basketball League will hold their championship games for the Winter 2012 season on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Austin Sports Center in South Austin.
The recreational division will tip off at 7 PM with the 'Bout Time Bandits taking on the Schulze & Associates Refunds. The Bandits will try to keep the Refunds, led by coach and sponsor Jack Schulze, from taking home another title. The Refunds were the recreational division champions in the league's Summer 2011 season.
The competitive division championship game will start at 8 PM with the Muscle Maker Grill Godfathers taking on last year's division champions, the Contractors Insurance Services Total Collision. The Godfathers, led by Matt DeLeon, are poised to take the title away from the Summer 2011 champions. DeLeon is the owner of the Muscle Maker Grill in Austin and the team's sponsor.
The games will be held at the Austin Sports Center at 425 Woodward Street, across from St. Edward's University on Thursday, March 1, 2012 starting at 7 PM. The games are FREE and open to the public. After the game, the AGBL will host their post-game social after the games at Backroads Austin at 2200 S IH-35 at Oltorf, attached to the Clarion Hotel. All players and fans wearing an AGBL jersey or t-shirt get 20% off their meal and qualify for drink specials.
All three food sponsors -- Backroads Austin, Galaxy Cafe (on West Lynn) and Muscle Make Grill -- also offer players and fans wearing an AGLB jersey or t-shirt 20% off their meal if they stop by before the games.
