therepubliq kicks off the start of the summer event season with the inaugural BIG GAY BBQ on SUNDAY, MAY 7, 2017 from 11 AM – 3 PM at The Rattle Inn. We’ll be serving up the meats and beats with a buffet catered by our friends at SLAB BBQ and music featuring DJs Protégé and Kahlu.

Better come hungry! The buffet is gonna feature Angus brisket, smoked chicken breast and smoked sausage, all smoked with pecan and oak; plus, BBQ baked beans and homestyle potato salad, along with all the fixins: onions, pickles, bread and SLAB’s award-winning BBQ sauce.

Enjoy the beats of two of 4th Street’s hottest deejays as deejays Protege and Kahlu serve up a double helping of dance music to get your Sunday Funday started.
You can find DJ Protege down on 4th Street every Thursday and Friday night down at Rain on 4th as well as Tueday and Saturday nights at the Kung Fu Saloon in North Austin at The Domain.

You can find DJ Kahlu at Rain on 4th every Tuesday and Wednesday night and Sunday afternoon as well as Thursday nights at Sellers Underground.

The Rattle Inn is located in the heart of Austin’s West 6th Street District, featuring a huge rooftop deck with views of the downtown Austin skyline. Most will know it as the current home of abcde events’ Big Gay Brunch series.
On-street parking is FREE all day on Sundays. NOTE: parking lots in the area are privately owned and charge for parking, regardless of the day. Check signage when parking your vehicle. If you plan to drink while at the event, you are encouraged to use alternatives, including public transportation, taxis and rideshare services.
