Fall is here and so is event season. Just because your calendar is filling up, it’s no excuse to put networking on the back burner. Whether you’re looking for new customers, starting a new business, searching for potential collaboration partners or even looking for a new career — networking can be your key to new opportunities. This month, two Austin organizations have a some networking events for LGBTQ and allied professionals looking to grow their business connections and social circles. Check out the professionally-focused Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and the socially-oriented Gay In Austin for your LGBTQ networking options for November 2015.

AGLCC Monthly Networking Luncheon

This month’s AGLCC luncheon returns to North Austin and the Renaissance Hotel Austin in the Arboretum, where attendees will get to check out the newly renovated Knotty Deck & Bar. Due to space limitations, and the growing popularity of the Chamber’s luncheons, you are strongly encouraged to RSVP early to ensure that space is available.
This month’s luncheon will also be the final chance for members to cast a ballot in this year’s Board elections. Only members who have not already cast a ballot online and membership status is current as of 5 PM on Monday, November 2 will be able to vote at the event.
Held on the first Tuesday of each month, the Austin Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s monthly networking luncheon is geared towards business owners and professionals, both LGBTQ and allied, looking for potential leads for new business. The crowd is fairly mixed, industry-wise, and fairly large for a luncheon with 70-80 attendees on average.

Gay in Austin Happy Hour

This month’s Gay in Austin happy hour will be down in the Rainey Street District at Lucille Patio Lounge. Parking can be a challenge in and around Rainey Street so if you’re planning to drive yourself, give yourself a little extra time to find parking.
The event is hosted by REATX: Varela-Kosarek Team and sponsored by He’s For Me – Austin, Family Tree Dental Group and Valet Motorcars. This event tends to be more of a social function rather than networking, but it does draw a large, primarily younger, professional crowd, including recent transplants. You’ll also find higher proportion of attendees from the creative and tech industries. The happy hours are free to attend. You can register online if you wish, but it isn’t required to attend.

AGLCC Networking Happy Hour
This month, the AGLCC’s monthly networking happy hour will be hosted by member Family Tree Dental Group at their location on Burnet Road on Thursday, November from 6:30-8:30 PM. They will be serving up some tasty bites and drink specials all evening, so whip out those business cards and start working the room.
Like the Chamber’s luncheon, the crowd is evenly mixed and attendees will vary depending on venue and location. Unlike the luncheons, there is typically no programming other than a few announcements towards the end of the event. The happy hour are always free to attend.
