“When I started this company, it was rare to see a CEO discussing LGBT+ equality as an issue that affected how they did business. In the last 8 years, we’ve engaged more than 400 global CEOs in our work, helping them realize the immense positive business impacts of inclusion. In many ways, ringing the opening bell is symbolic of the immense progress we’ve made in establishing LGBT+ equality as a guiding principle for many of our world’s most influential companies. As we ring the opening bell, we are grateful to the many companies and leaders who’ve helped us get here. And we are also reminded of how much potential remains locked behind closet doors. Our commitment to driving LGBT+ equality forward, in every kind of company, and in every region of the world, is stronger than ever before,” said Todd Sears, Founder and Principal, Out Leadership.

Todd Sears was joined by members of Out Leadership’s senior leadership team, representatives from Out Leadership’s member companies include members of its Leadership Committees, and other supporters.

#BigGay Kickoff Party

Published

on

Austin’s LGBTQ community kicks off the festivities for SXSW 2015 with the biggest and gayest party in town, the 3rd annual #BigGay Kickoff Party on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 6-10 PM.

Produced jointly by both the Austin Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and therepubliq in partnership with Frot Vodka and Oilcan Harry’s, the #BigGay Kickoff is an opportunity for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender attendees of South by Southwest to get a taste of gay Austin.

In its third year, the #BigGay Kickoff Party has turned in to the largest single LGBTQ event during SXSW as vets and virgins alike head on over to 4th Street to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones while they share their posts and pics on the Twitter wall — use the hashtag #BigGay. As a FREE unofficial SXSW event, no badges or wristbands are required and Oilcan Harry’s, one of Austin’s longest running gay bars is open to attendees 18 years old and up.

Attendees can pick up one (or a couple) of the AGLCC’s always popular Big Gay bags (very handy if you consider Austin’s ban on single-use plastic bags). Early birds can grab a souvenir ViG (or Very Important Gay) laminate and a ticket for a complimentary signature cocktail from Frot Vodka. Both are limited to first come, first serve. So get there early. First-time visitors to Austin have the opportunity to talk to AGLCC board members and staff from therepubliq for tips and recommendations to help make their brief stay in Austin as gay as possible.
